Elena Roerich

Elena Roerich (nee Shaposhnikova) (January 31 (February 12), 1879, St. Petersburg - October 5, 1955, Kalimpong, India) - Russian religious philosopher (in some sources, a philosopher or esoteric philosopher), writer, public figure.

She claimed that she received messages from the Mahatma Moriah by means of clairvoyance. Based on the diaries of Helena Roerich, a series of books on the religious and philosophical doctrine of Living Ethics (Agni Yoga) was published.

The author of the book "Fundamentals of Buddhism", translated into Russian two volumes of The Secret Doctrine of Helena Blavatsky, as well as selected Mahatma Letters ("Bowl of the East"). The ideas set forth by Helena Roerich in Agni Yoga had a strong influence on the formation and development of the new age in Russia.

Wife of Nicholas Roerich. Organizer and participant of cultural and educational activities launched under the leadership of Nicholas Roerich in Russia, the USA and other countries; participant in an expedition organized by Nikolai Roerich in hard-to-reach and poorly explored areas of Central Asia (1924-1928); Honorary Founding President of the Urusvati Institute of Himalayan Studies in India, Honorary Founding President of the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York. Mother of two sons - Yuri and Svyatoslav.
