Sri Shankaracharya - (Adi Shankara, Shankaracharya; 788-820) - Indian thinker, leading representative of the Vedanta, religious reformer and polemicist, mystic and poet. Based on the Upanishads, he created a consistent monistic system - advaita-vedanta.
