William Quan Judge son of Alice Maria Quan and Frederick H. Judge, was born in Dublin, Ireland, on April 13, 1851. Judge's father was a freemason and mystic. His mother died early in giving birth to her seventh child.
Little is known about William's childhood. Considered a deadly disease. The doctor declared the little sufferer dying and then dead. The grief-stricken relatives did not notice that the child was alive and feeling good. After he discovered abilities and knowledge that were not previously man-ifested. All this new stuff for him. He was acquainted with him again. He began to literally swallow all the books available to him on merimerism, phrenology, character determination, religion, magic, rosicrucianism.
Up to 13 years old, the boy was brought up in Dublin, and then moved with his children to the United States to arrive in New York Bay on July 14, 1864 ...
William Judge took US citizenship, and in May of the same year he was admitted to the bar in New York City and began to specialize in commercial law. As excellent results, stubborn perseverance and hard work, winning respect from both employers and clients. As it was said, “to do his job, Judge would walk along hot stones from here to India.”
In 1874, he married Ella M. Smith from Brooklyn.
Shortly after the marriage, Mr. Judge heard about Madame Blavatsky. It happened this way. He wrote the book “People from another world” written by G.S. Olcott, in which he was very interested. Mr. Judge wrote to colonel Olcott, and soon Mr. Judge was invited to visit Mrs. Blavatsky.
Irving Place. House 40, New York, once in this life, HP Blavatsky met her future most devoted student and friend face to face. Mr. Judge described this first meeting in the article “Forever yours, HPB”: “I was struck by the eyes, the eyes of a man whom I had known in long-lived lives. During the first meeting, she looked at me. She saw that I was not a holiday, a philo-sophical subject, to the touch wading through the corridor of life in search of light, then teachings and fantastic theories. To find the right path. I want everyone to be in order, without going into details, just talking about them and going back to what I was doing. It was as if we had gone home the night before, demanding mutual participation. We were a teacher and student, older and younger brothers. She has all the powers of wisdom. I felt amazing peace ”... Their cooperation was never interrupted, as Helena Petrovna wrote.
Jack spent with Helena Petrova on Irving Place, in New York, worked with her and supervised her work, and also helped her with writing "Exposed Isis." He was one of several in her room when, on September 7, 1875, it was first proposed to establish the Theosophical Society and its organization began.
At the end of 1883, the Theoretical Society in New York was renamed the “Aryan Theosophical Lodge”, Judge was its president.
In 1884 Judge arrives in India. He temporarily holds the post of H.S. Olcott, while he, along with H.P. Blavatsky is located in Europe.
In 1886 Judge returns to America again and transforms the “Aryan Theo-retical Lodge” into the American Department of the Theosophical Society. William Judge becomes his general secretary.
In the same year he begins to publish the magazine "Way."
In 1888, W.Q. Judge helped H.P. Blavatsky organized the Esoteric School.

Here are some of HPB's letters. “To William Quan Judge, Secretary General of the American Section of the Theosophical Society: To my dearest brother and co-founder of the Theosophical Society.
(To the members of T.S.) In response to your letter, I can only say the fol-lowing:
“If W.Q. Judge is a person who has done the most for theosophy in Ameri-ca, whose unselfishness no one worked in your country, who did everything he could , to fulfill all the instructions of the Great Teachers, if he is left alone ... then I say - let them go! They are not Theosophists, and if this should happen and Judge will have to fight alone, then I must tell them all — goodbye forever. I swear by the holy name of the Master to shake off the dust of each of them from my feet ... I cannot understand how in moments of trouble and the cruellest struggle a true Theosophist can fluctuate, even for a moment, in the need to support W.Q.J. publicly ... Everything that I said about William Q. Judge were HIS (Teachers) words in HIS letter to me ... He who believes everything that is invented by enemies, that in any circumstances, provocations, gossip, slander HPB will ever be against W.Q.J. or even think about it, doesn't know This is an absurd idea. H.P.B. he will give away 7 dozen bridges, 77 dozen noys, the whole esoteric brood in the USA for one W.Q.J., he is part of it in eternity.
“..Those who have ears, - let them hear, those who are deaf and blind, let them obtain artificial ears and glass eyes for themselves or disappear for-ever. The esoteric section and its life in the USA depends on William Q.Judge, who remains its representative and is now. On the day when W.Q.J. leave his post, HPB will become essentially dead for the Americans. W.Q.J. is the Antahkarana (bridge) between the two Manas — American and Indian thought or, rather, Trans-Himalayan Esoteric Knowledge. ”1889
“My dear William Q.J., my only friend. I will never forget his devotion, his unshakable friendship (writes HPB). “Well, sir and my only friend, the cri-sis is coming. I finish the Secret Doctrine, and you will have to replace me or take my place in America. I know that you will successfully cope if your heart holds out, but remain loyal to the Great Teachers, their Theosophies and NAMES ... .. May they help you and allow us to bless you. I am offered any money, income, food and housing - all this is free, only so that I go to America to work separately without you, in other words against you ... I prefer to lose everyone to the last than YOU.
Maybe soon you will find out why. Now please just write to me (so that I can read) what you expect from me and what I should not do. I give my word to follow your instructions. We need a mutual understanding. Until now, no one has ever told me that you are asking to do something. Write me directly, and I will do everything goodbye. “.. Cases and events can be turned with an invisible hand in such a way that you will be unanimously elected for life, just like Olcott and I, to con-tinue working after our death. Do you understand what that means ?! This means that if you do not agree, it will make my life and death miserable, because the thought that this is the end of theosophy will haunt me. For several years (after death) I cannot help her progress, direct her course, since I will act in a body that should assimilate the state of Nirmankaya, because even in the esoteric there are such things as failure, deceleration and poor adaptation to new conditions ... “... What can I say, I raised“ Frankenstein ”[Theosophical Society], and he seeks to exterminate me. Only you can save the devil and make him man. Breathe in him the soul, if not the spirit. Be his Savior in the USA, may the blessings of my SENIORS be with you, and your blessings will come upon you. Yours is old, but the only one that is ready to sacrifice its spiritual world, if only you start and continue to work ... The task of Mr. Judge was definitely difficult because HP Blavatsky, who was then the only great conductor of theosophical ideas, left her field of activity in America, and with this the curiosity and interest excited by her original and amazing mission declined. Henceforth, the Theosophical So-ciety was supposed to exist on its own philosophical basis. As a result, after many years of work and inexhaustible perseverance, Mr. Judge achieved his goal.
From the age of 23 until his death, the maximum of his efforts, the fiery energy of his fearless soul, were given to the Work in the Theosophical Society. There is a description of how he, being the only person present at the meeting, opened it, read chapters from the Bhagavad Gita, filled in the Minutes (Work Plan) and delved into all the details. His decision to keep the Theosophical Society so hard that he did so time after time. Such a will can overcome any obstacles. With his hard work, helping the theosophical movement throughout the world, he built the Theosophical Society of America, which he earned from the Teacher of Wisdom the title "Resurrector of Theosophy in America." At that time, Mr. Judge had a motto: “Not deliberation, but distribution.” He said: "Theosophy is the cry of the soul."
In 1888, in some official documents of HPB. writes that "he is a won chela for 13 years," is "the main and main representative of the Lodge (Teachers) in America."
From the articles of W.Q. Judge
Theosophy is the knowledge of God, (not personal, anthropomorphic God, but of Divine Wisdom). The word God, in its basic meaning, at the same time implies the knowable and inaccessible to human cognition, therefore, theosophy means wisdom, which knows no boundaries, without beginning or end.
The fundamental tenets of Theosophy:
The spirit of man is his only real and permanent substance.
The Universe is one in its essence, everything that enters into it is con-nected with the whole and with everything else. Any action or thought leaves its imprint on the matrix of the Universe, for each part of the uni-verse is inseparable from the whole and everything that exists is united by the bonds of the Brotherhood.
According to the first postulate of the Theosophical doctrine, the Universe is a single whole, and not an aggregate of individual components. This Whole is defined by the Western philosophers as the Divine, and by the Indian philosophical doctrine of the Vedanta as “Parabrahm.” Parabrahm lies outside (literally - beyond Brahma) manifestations, but in potency is the source of manifestation of each form and laws governing these mani-festations.
New worlds appear as a result of a regular evolutionary process. When the time comes (and this happens periodically) manifestations of the Unmanifested in the objective Universe ,.
The period of manifestation or exhalation is known as Manvantara or the manifestation of peace between the two Manus (from Manu and the antara - “between”). The breath ends with Pralaya, that is, a period of obscuration or rest.
Manvantara is defined by two eternal principles - Purusha and Prakriti, inseparable from each other and present in each manifestation. Purusha is called Spirit, and Prakriti is called Matter. Pururшаa is not an unmanifested spirit, just as Prakriti is not a matter known to modern science.
From here we come to the doctrine of the Universal evolution proposed by the Adepts of the Religion of Wisdom. According to them, the Spirit or Purusha emanates from Brahma and passes through many forms of matter that are simultaneously in the process of evolution, beginning in the spir-itual world from the highest, and in the material world from the lower forms. Thus, the mineral, plant, and animal forms are carriers of the divine spark, as part of the invisible Purusha.
These sparks of the spirit strive to “return to the Father”, or, in other words, to achieve self-awareness, which is possible only for one person, the highest form on Earth.
The tremendous work of gaining self-awareness can be accomplished dur-ing the Manvantara, in which the spark reaches or does not reach the hu-man form, depending on the individual will and the effort involved. Thus, each individual soul goes through Manvantara or, in other words, manifests itself both for its spiritual growth and for the spiritual growth of All. The Mahatmas and Rishis gradually climbed the steps of evolution and, after finishing Manvantara, became planetary spirits that predetermine the path of evolution on other, future planets. The planetary spirits of our planet are those who in the previous Manvantaras, the days of Brahma, put enough effort into and became Mahatmas during this long period.
Each Manvantara has the same goal, to provide the Mahatmas, who have already reached the heights or those who can reach them before the end of the current Manvantara, the opportunity to become planetary spirits in the next Manvantara on this or other planets. This system of spiritual commu-nity of all people forms the basis of the Theosophical Society, whose goal is the realization of the idea of brotherhood between people.
Purusha (spirit) is an indispensable condition for the existence of any manifested incarnation. Without it, nothing can exist or connect with an-other. It is omnipresent and ubiquitous. This is a reality in relation to which the things we call real are just images. Perceiving and spiritualizing every-thing that exists, Purusha unites him into a single whole. The level of Purusha is the plane of pure consciousness, where every action, thought, object, circumstance occurring at any level of being and consciousness is fixed. For below the spirit and above the intellect there is a plane of con-sciousness in which all accumulated experience is stored. This plan is known as the “spiritual nature” of man.
This “spiritual culture" is acquired only when material interests, passions and demands of the flesh are subordinated to the interests, motives and needs of a higher nature. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to follow the laws established by nature and use a certain system of preparation.
Spiritual practice endows a person with special abilities that allow one to perform “miracles”, which are actually the result of knowledge of natural laws.
Our Earth is the only planet in the seven-globe chain that is on the visible plane, while the other six globes are on the other, invisible planes. (Each of the planets in our solar system belongs to a chain of seven globes). The wave of life descends from a higher globe to a lower one, reaches our Earth, and then rises and passes three others on the opposite arc. This is repeated seven times.
Our Earth is the fourth globe.
Humanity moves from globe to globe, making a circle (cycle) and reborn on each globe a certain number of times.
When the wave of humanity reached the Earth for the last time (in the Fourth Circle), the evolutionary stage of the division of humanity into races began. Moving forward in its development, each root race reaches a period known as the “moment of choice", defines its future as an individual race, and then begins to disappear. Moreover, the races are separated from one another by natural disasters such as immersion of the continents and colossal natural disasters Simultaneously with the development of races, the senses evolved, so our fifth race has five developed senses.
Next, the Sages tell us that everything in this world, including man, obeys the law of cyclicity. During any cycle it is impossible to achieve a degree of progress characteristic of another cycle. Each period of existence obeys the same law of cyclicity. The same law prevails with the onset of the dark period, but its cycles are shorter.
In other words, in an absolute sense, they reach a specific evolutionary level in a shorter period of time. These laws impose restrictions on the progress of the race. In the ascending and descending cycles of evolutionary processes, the Adepts are forced to wait until the time comes before they can help the race that is on the rise. They cannot and must not oppose the law of Karma. Thus, their activity in raising the spiritual level of the race rises during the period when the cycle approaches its turning point.
So evolutionary progress can be helped, or further decay is allowed. This happens as follows: while the cycle is on the rise, developed and high-level beings, known under the Sanskrit name Nyani, descend to Earth from other globes where the cycles go down to help spiritual progress on this globe. Similarly, they leave this globe when the time of darkness approaches within it. They should not be confused with the Mahatmas and the Adepts.
Thus, the true goal of honest Theosophists is to work to dispel the dark-ness of spiritual ignorance so that the Nyana can return to this globe.
Theosophy recognizes the existence of a universally prevalent, highly ethereal mediator called the “Astral Light” and “Akasha”. It preserves past, present and future events, as well as all actions and thoughts of spiritual, mental or material origin.
Astral light is matter, not spirit. This, one might say, is the lower principle of the cosmic body, in which Akasha is his Highest principle. He can save all the images. It can also be said that in the Astral Light every thought, word and action has its own image.
Astral light contains all existing sounds.
Through Astral Light and the aid of the elementals, various material ele-ments can be pulled out and precipitated from the atmosphere in a flat form or in the form of a dense object.
Understanding the world of elementals is a very important factor in the formation of a theosophical understanding of the universe. Every thought that arises in a person immediately connects with the elemental and, after that, it is no longer subject to his will. It is easy to understand that this pro-cess occurs in each case. Thus, every thought exists as an entity.
And since most bad thoughts are purposeful, we state the obviousness of the result, for the elemental has no consciousness and changes its structure and direction depending on the thought to which it is subject at this time.
Each person has his own elementals, which are part of his nature and thoughts. By expressing anger, criticizing or sternly condemning another person, you attract to yourself a large number of elementals who belong, evoke and are caused by negative emotions that will return to you a hundredfold.
Thus, unfairly condemning, not knowing the source and causes of the oth-er’s action, you automatically become an accomplice to his mistakes and failures and by your own action (your thoughts) sevenfold increase their strength.
In the Astral Light, the creation of forms and the destruction of existing ones takes place. This is a universal recorder. The law of karma or the evo-lution of life is created in its main office. Thus, in a deeply spiritual sense, the law of Karma is the "mediator" between man and his God - the highest spirit.
Theosophy also addresses the origins, history, development, and fate of humanity.
She teaches:
The first. Each spirit is a manifestation of the One Spirit and, thus, part of the Whole.
The second. In the process of recurring incarnations, each individual gets a new body and for a huge number of existences in alternating races and globes of our chain, she gathers the experience of each rebirth for her spir-itual perfection.
Third. Between rebirths, after purification of the Higher Ego from the lower principles, there comes a period of comparative rest and peace, called Devachan, in which the Higher Ego prepares for the next material incarnation.
Human nature is septenary and its main components: body, soul and spirit. The subjective state of a person after death depends on how these com-ponents are developed relative to each other. Spirit is not the seventh prin-ciple. This is a synthesis or a whole, which is equally represented in the other six principles.
The process of evolution goes down to the fusion of the individual spirit with the Divine and includes a consistent rise from the lowest to the highest level of strength and utility. Those whom we call Sages, Rishis, Brothers, Teachers of Wisdom are elevated beings embodied in the physical body. Their great mission is to constantly maintain, and, when the law of cycles permits, to expand the level of spiritual knowledge and influence.
When the merging with the Divine Spirit is achieved, all the events and experiences of each rebirth become apparent.
In 1886, continuing to work in the Theosophical Society, Mr. Judge founded the journal “Path”, for the publication of which he did everything necessary, fulfilling all sorts of duties. He constantly wrote books, articles, letters. He lectured in all states of America, performed the work of several people. Every free moment taken away from food and rest was given to theosophy.
He always treated suffering contemptuously, working when the other would lie without rising. His friends and doctors were shocked by everything that happened to him.
Theosophical society grew, and the number of its staff increased, and he tirelessly did more than all the rest. Fearless and stubborn, he constantly spoke out with a proposal for new work plans.
There were, of course, disappointments, however, optimism, indomitable energy never let him down. To those who asked for his advice during the crises that habitually shook the tree of the Theosophical Society, he replied: “Work! Work! Work for theosophy! ” And when, in the end, he was also cruelly betrayed, and some of those whom he raised, whom he provided services and taught how to work, tried to expel him from society, not understanding their limitations, he was silent as it should be for the Initiate.
These are the well-known facts of the life of William Judge. There is much to talk about. His requirements for us concerned only the Works! She was his Ideal! He valued men and women only in their attitude to the theosophical work and in the spirit in which it was done. In his opinion, the best work is Thinking Right. He worked with anyone who truly wanted to work, regardless of whether these people were his friends or enemies ... He will always remember his bizarre, extraordinary smile, followed by some Irish jokes.
On March 21, 1896, W.Q.Judge met “Expressive, Just and Mighty Death” ... Dr. Rounds said that the cause of death was not the condition of the lungs, but “the cessation of cardiac activity”. However, all the doctors who looked at him agreed that his heart sounded like a bell.
Based on this, we can conclude that William Judge, like HPB, died not be-cause there was a clear reason for this, but simply the time had come ...
